Election Day Quick Thoughts.

What are you looking at?
Seriously... where are your eyes focused today?
Adam & Eve “SAW that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, [and they] took some and ate it.”
King David “SAW a woman bathing. The woman was very beautiful, and David sent someone to find out about her.”
The apostle Peter walked on water with Jesus until he “SAW the wind, was afraid and began to sink.”
In these cases, the focus of their eyes led to: 1) sin entering the world 2) rape & murder 3) the realities of the world overpowering them.
Now, our God is far more powerful than our failures, so He graciously provided a beautiful reconciliation story through all of these examples, but they were ALL avoidable circumstances!

So, what are you seeing right now?
With the election upon us and a billion distractions craving your gazing, what do you see?
News outlets?
Election results?
Social media?
Your favorite blogger's quick thoughts? haha
To claim you follow Christ is to recognize the existence of the distractions, but not give them your undivided attention.
They’re simply not worthy of it.
Allow God, and God alone, to guide you through the craziness...
And the pro-tip God gives is to look straight at Him!
“LET YOUR EYES LOOK STRAIGHT AHEAD; fix your gaze directly before you. Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways. DO NOT TURN TO THE RIGHT OR THE LEFT; keep your foot from evil.” - Proverbs 4:25-27 [Emphasis mine]
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. WE DO THIS BY KEEPING OUR EYES ON JESUS, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting Him, He endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now He is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.” - Hebrews 12:1-2 [Emphasis mine]
