One of the hidden truths of life is found in learning that every trial, person, and experience (good, bad, or neutral) is a centrifuge revealing the contents of our heart’s mind. Whether your trials have functioned as a path toward progress or a maze of maleficence, Whether the people who have shaped you were a covering of compassion or a grave of grudges, Whether your life experiences have been a showcase of successes or a farm of failures, Your response reveals your reality.
Allow your heart to be audited.
Ask friends, family, and foes to be honest with you… - What do they see in you? - How do they imagine you would react to a seriously tragic situation? - In what ways do they believe you would change with massive success? - What do they sense is your primary motive? - What do they think makes you most joyful? - What do they think makes you most hateful? - What physical item do they believe you cherish most? - Why did they choose the answers they gave? (Examples/experiences they’ve witnessed that led them to their conclusion).
Humbly receive these answers.
You won’t be the first to have your heart audited.
When the famed and great King David realized this necessary practice, he wrote: “Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” (Psalm 139:23-24)
Lather this prayer over your heart. Rinse away the impurities with God’s grace. Repeat daily.
And as new trials, people, and experiences head your way, may you come to notice that the contents of your heart's mind resemble more and more the fruit of the Spirit. (Galatians 5:22-23)
