We Are One.

We are one. NObody, NOthing, NO tragedy could ever separate that.

Marriage is NOT simply living together and trying to stay faithful. Marriage is NOT just two people in a committed, legally-binding agreement.

Marriage is a gift of true unity given by a loving, relational God. Marriage is a picture of God and His people.

When we treat marriage as the former, we deface the latter. Marriage is difficult. Marriage is frustrating. Marriage is long-suffering. Because humans are flawed. Because humans are selfish. Because humans are sinful.

Marriage is beautiful. Marriage is worth every sacrifice. Marriage is and will always be my most important ministry. Because the God of the universe gifted it. Because it requires me to rid myself of the seed of all sin: pride. Because it is a training ground for all of my other relationships. The apostle John once wrote, "If someone says, 'I love God,' but hates a fellow believer, that person is a liar; for if we don’t love people we can see, how can we love God, whom we cannot see?"

To extend that further, if we cannot serve, forgive, sacrifice for, and remain loyal to our spouse, how can we do any of those things for someone we have not committed our lives to?

[Marriage] is a training ground for all of my other relationships.

This is my person. This is my bride. This is us. & WE are one.
